Hi All
I have purchased off eBay a new stereo/media unit (https://www.ebay.com/itm/264056445883?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649).
manufacture is KasAndroid Systems (which i haven't been able to find any info on)
now upfront, it's very hard to find a stereo for such an old car :(
I contacted the seller and gave them the details of my car and asked if their product would be appropriate for this vehicle, to which they replied that it is.

now.....
it appears that the wiring connectors are advertised for multiple Mercedes. unfortunately, this means that it doesn't just plug in and run

upon research and coming to the conclusion that I may have to wire it in myself :| not what I was looking for, but can work with it.

upon researching, my current stereo is from (http://www.tehnomagazin.com/Auto-radio-car-connector/MERCEDES-Car-Radio-Wiring-Connector.htm)
MERCEDESBENZ AUDIO 10 CD MF2910ALPINE51T3562Y01-9937 + 51T25597Y02-52124C04 smdTDA7385

unfortunately, I cant seem to divine the stereo outputs from this or any other sites.

hoping to be able to repin the adapters so the new stereo will work correctly. (note have requested the fibre module, but unsure if the car has the cd stacker as I cannot find it).

NOTE attached is the wiring info I have for the new sterio

IIRC the CD changer is in the boot on the drivers side of the W163.

No idea, sorry. I would check with commandonline.co.uk as they specialise in retrofits and should be able to advise / sell you what you need.

ok...
I have been in contact with the eBay seller who sold me the radio.

I think the issue is that either
1. the Canbus module is wrong
or
2.the CANbus module is not being hooked up correctly

the device does a reset when you click the reset pin hole button. so likely it's just missing the key sense or ignition signals to turn on

attached is a pic of the Canbus module and its cabling. (note no instructions of where it should be plugged in)

I have been doing some research and other sellers state that this radio (or their version of it)is for the ml270 2002 w163
I have ordered a new canbus module from the UK, and hopefully, I can graft this into the wiring. I'm trying to avoid cutting into the car's wiring to install this radio

ill worry about the visuals of the console surround later

thanks in advance
regards Monty

On some older vehicles you may need to connect the CANBUS into a junction point if the feed from the ISO do not work but that doesn't look like the correct on for your vehicle.

I found when fitting a Kenwood system to my Caravelle that I had to change the switched and permanent live connections round in the connectors to make it work. I also had to get power to the antenna for the amp.

hi all
Just an FYI.

with a little bit of spare time, I connected some wires (bypassing canbus and the device works).
I have purchased another canbus and hope it arrives soon.

Does anyone know which wires are canbus low and canbus high for 2002 ML270 ?

also, noted that this radio seems to draw a bit of power from the battery.. any hints on how to not flatten the battery?

Hi All
after messing around for more time than I would like to have, I have purchased a JVC head unit (http://au.jvc.com/car/av_receivers/kw_m745dbt/). great unit.
easy plugin and works great, just a little delay in the device startup when you start the car, but overall .. quick easy and dose exactly what It states

i would not recommend going with a chinese stereo.
i tried one and ended up with a radio that doesn't fit, after discussions, they state that the radio uses an app for mirroring (only uses Chinese text) and
this is after contacting them with the make /model/pictures of my car and then going through many emails trying to get the device wired up as required.
i may have done my money on that deal.

i am in the process of trying to get my money back :| on the Chinese purchase

anyway.
just thought id give the outcome of my journey

regards monty

Been there, the Chinese reliability of both equipment and sellers can be v questionable.
They start with generic answers to questions that often don't relate to the question asked, it buys time and causes many to give up.

I hope you have eBay protection or the like or you might find this is good effort after bad.
I don't play their games, same with UK sellers actually. I give opportunity for them to resolve and then straight to reporting an issue.
Where as once I may have attempted to overcome a units failure I've learnt not to waste such time. If it doesn't work correctly it's their problem not mine.

Did you buy via eBay?

Good luck, but I've been dissatisfied with paypal.

Discussion's, with the seller I assume, just runs the clock past your chance to make claim.

You have a unit you're happy with so this is really a redundant thought.
I assume the eBay unit it faulty.
A new order from the same seller might provide you with a good unit, with 30 days to return the faulty one.

The prices are attractive from Chinese sellers but not worth the hassle for anything slightly complex.

Most of the 'decentish' vendors have UK ebay stores which although a little more expensive, does make returns easier.
I couldn't be happier with my Erisin unit and it has been trouble free for 3-4 years so they are not all bad but you do have to do your research.
