R107 hard info

Can anybody give me some advice/information on where to purchase a new or second hand top. i own a 1984 r107, it has a sort top that has a rip and a hardtop that is badly rusted on the part where it seal to the car. If i could get this part maybe i'd be allright. In short i've just purchased the car and i'm unsure where the best places for parts for these things are, all help would be appreciated.

see this is what i mean.

the hardtop it self is is average/good contion, but the part/panel where it joins on to the car is full of rust. Does anybody know if this part can be bought seperately or know.

see them advertised fairly regularly in the Merc Benz Buyer magazine, will look in a few and try to get u some details but cant untill monday

Hi Dave, my one is in pretty much the same state last time I looked, saw a few a while back on ebay, worth a look even if its not the same colour.

i have 2 phone No's for second hand hard tops, a red one at £650 and a white one for £250, not sure if its ok to print phone No, maybe you could advise, if your interested, both are London area

Yeah on a second inspection last night, i think i might have my work cut out. So yes i'd be intrested in both. can you please e-mail me pictures and you phone details.

hard top

Hi

I'm a relatively new owner myself and the three things that really helped me are as follows:

MercMan in Southampton, a Mercedes specialist breakers, very helpful (02380 784444)

Mercedes Enthusiast magazine (loads of useful ads and plenty of coverage of SL's)

Ebay (where I know there's an SL hardtop for sale at the moment, it's in gold but would spray relatively easy)

Hope that helps and my advice from one novice to another is try not to leave your SL out in the rain if you can!
