Hello folks
Just wanted to say hi and of course in time honoured tradition extend my advice begging bowl?
I have perused the forums in search of R107 buying advice? A lot of useful info here!
After many years wanting to buy one (since I was 7 !) thought its time to look seriously into it.
I assume the later years '86 - 89 models are the best to go for hence the most expensive?
Why not the earlier ones? Are they just more prone to rust / thirsty engines?
I know everyone has their own opinions but which engine is best /worst or is it just down to money and your best friend the local petrol station? (I would use the car more or less daily)
Are they fairly spanner friendly to work on? I've had classic cars over the years and always used them daily for work, so no stranger to oil leaks.
Do you need a Victorian child to stick down the engine bay to replace bits or will adult hands reach without the customery knuckle gashes!
Are mechinical / body /trim parts fairly easy to get ?
Do the dash tops crack frequently - or is that more a problem for our American cousins?
Are the hardtops metal or fibreglass?
Are the softops made from plastic or mohair as a rule?
I am guessing 99.9% of Uk cars are autos? I've seen 1 manual advertised?
Little surprised with the price differences - I dont really want to pay more than £10K max - just want a decent solid car thats failry clean and looked after - mileage not really an issue for me would you say £10K is a suitably good price cut off point?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Stan
