Hi,

Could someone confirm what rear seat belt configuration is possible in the R107/C107 SL & SLC models?

I am hoping to find a setup with three belts in the rear: ideally two of the 'over the shoulder' variety (one each side) then a lap belt in the middle seat. Alternatively if this is impossible due to the absence of fixing points in the convertible can I get three lap belts across the back seat?

It would appear that SLC's can have this setup so can someone tell me if this can be replicated in the SL model? This piccy indicates only two lap belts on an 86 SL... 1986_380SL_rear.jpg . Can I get another lap belt between these (i.e. I end up with three lap belts)?

Thanks very much!

Hello and welcome, 3 belts are out of the question for an approved installation, the diagonals are possible.

Myros knows the cars well and all about the belts

Hi Jake - I might be being daft here but there is no central seating position on the SL - there is a removable cover section over the transmission tunnel and no seat well provided. I have the lap belts in the rear of my 82 500SL but when I get chance I will have a look to see where the mounting points are located.

Kind regards

you can only fit 2 seatbelts in the rear of an SL. for a fitment of 3 point belts you need to use the existing lap belt bolts and fit a new mount on the rear wheel arch.

company called http://www.quickfitsbs.com/ does it

Hello all and many thanks for the input.

In case you're interested, the background to my question is as follows:

I made the mistake a few years ago of being talked into having a third nipper. Since then I have been searching for a soft top second car that all five of us could enjoy (together) but this now seems like a hopeless task!

The search continues, thanks to all.

late to the party again

I second all the above posts. harumph. Funnily enough, I was under the back seats last night, and yes there are only two mountings. SBS do the diagonal kit, I am waiting for my two to be big enough to need them.
If you want a five seater cabriolet, how about one of those nice E or C class convertibles. Better chance in one of those, even if it's two 3 point and 1 lap belt.
