R129 Boot "leak"

I feel pretty daft asking this one, even by my standards, but here goes!

The last couple of months when I open the boot after rain there is what can only be described as a small torrent of water running fown from behind the boot lid trim where it meets the boot lid hinges. It is happened on both sides, may well depend on what angle the car is parked at, but I can not for the life of me work out what has caused this.

The trouble is I drive the car so seldom these days that it catches me unprepared each time I open the boot! I tried running some water down the rubbers with the boot opened and it seemed to run off ok, no obvious splits.

Any thoughts, anyone had this problem?

Brilliant, of course it is! The unit was replaced a few months back and they clearly have not sealed it properly.

Now why did I not think of that?
