I have had my SL back on the road now 10 days and the worse case issue has raised its ugly head.
My roof now won’t open and close and the red console light is lit red permanently?
Yesterday it was playing up and wouldn’t work properly and would flash whilst trying to use it.
Roof is 90% down but rear window metal catches now engaged with car panel.
Please any suggestions or help or reboot ideas

The red light will flash a pattern of flashes if you hold it. For example 8 flashes, pause, 8 flashes, pause etc
Count the flashes between pauses. That will give an error code.

You should have a roof release tool in the tool kit. Looks like a long thin spanner with a hex key at the other end. If all else fails you can use this to manually lower/raise and lock the roof in place. Instructions are in the owners manual.

thank you - I will count the flashes on the switch and hopefully get an error code number (will that direct me to as where the fault might be)?
I have the tool to lock it down in the roof up position but wants to see if I can fix the switch first?

Quick update - their ed switch just flashes with no pauses and I counted 24 flashes without a pause so maybe it’s the switch?

It won't be the switch I wouldn't think.
If you can't get a code from the switch the only option is to put it on an appropriate code reader to see if that gives a code.

If you drive without everything being latched the switch will flash continuously.

I would manually latch everything either open or closed then go get diagnostic codes read. If you don't latch everything there is a risk that wind pressure could get under a component and wrench it up.

Has anything been done to the car just before this, or did it occur after your 10 days driving around. There may be a cause behind this ??
As LK has suggested lock everything down before driving but perhaps open and close the roof fully manually, might just be something sticking, catching or perhaps one of the micro switches is playing up.
Have you checked the oil level for the roof ? Under the spare wheel.

Was able to get a full diagnosis of the faults this morning - a faulty power lead to the pump and roof pump relay and the contacts on the relay supply all replaced. Reset roof system and clear all fault codes.
Job done and all good - a big thank you to Cayman Autos in Redhill who did a great job

Glad that you have the problem resolved, Beaulieu will be back on the cards then .

Just goes to show that money well spent on good diagnostics is the better route.

couldn't agree more and yes Beaulieu definitely back on now, just a few electrical things to sort and the MOT
