R129 Info about the electrical wires problems in engine room

I´m looking for to buy a R129 500SL but heard of the problems with electrical cables in engine room. Also that it started around 1993 and ended in 1995.
Can anyone give me more details about how to figure out more exactly how I can now if the car is in the "danger zone" or not?
Someone told me that the early cars (to -92) with KE jetronic is OK.

Hi, those are the years of the biodegradable wiring.

I would expect that most will have been replaced by now. The seller will probably have paperwork show that it has.

The issue affects only cars with L-Jetronic. The mechanical K-Jetronic cars are not affected.
It's not a big deal either way. If you have a car with the disintegrating loom Sileck in Kent do a repair service for around £300.
I had mine done 3 years back
