R129 passenger window auto down not working?

Dear all

I have noticed that the auto down function for the passenger window on my r129 fails to work. The window mechanism works however up and down.

it also fails to drop when the soft top button is activated.

Does anyone know what the issue is?

What year? There were different setups for front windows depending on year.

Ok so it's auto down only without auto up.
Fairly simple system that uses a microswitch in the bottom of the door to tell the system its reached bottom. The microswitch is probably stuck or damaged and telling the car the window is down when it's not. The manual override will still operate even if the switch tells it the window is open. The switch is prone to water damage as it lives in the bottom of the door. Remove the door card to gain access.

Having never had a BMW (just not my thing) I couldn't say.

I have developed a clunk when the window is raised on my R129 SL ( 98 model) Drivers side. The window will not drop when the door is opened, and this has affected the retraction of the soft top
I have reset the windows, but this hasn't made any difference to the operation of the window.
Is this a re set issue or perhaps a failed micro switch?
Would a trip to a Mercedes diagnostic device show where the problem is? ( its likely to be a days drive away)
