Having problems with an SL500, R129, 1998, M119 engine. Have been helping a friend with his, completed some work on the one bank, replaced some valve lifters.
The car has been stored since Oct on a conditioner and this work was carried out last month. Only work on the engine, no other works.
Engine all back okay but the car will not fire up, turns over and will fire up and run, ( very nicely now). if we apply 12v to the fuel pump.

More concerned with getting it running but mentioning these incase there is a link..
Has a few more minor problems, windows not working and roll bar not raising. The roof module is tested and working on another 129..

Have replaced the fuses, cleaned contacts, checked the battery, replaced both key batteries but still no voltage at the fuel pump.
No after market alarm. Getting a bit stuck now and wonder if we have missed something, is there a sequence we have not done, keys and ignition perhaps or is it time to get it to an expert. ATA module …

tia..

The fuel pump relay is a silver cased unit, quite big for a relay, underbonnet fusebox, passenger side. Turn thing on the top to release it iirc. They used to go wrong. I think they might be unavailable new now, but it’s been a couple of years since one last gave me trouble. Coupled with the other faults, maybe ignition switch. Get on the back of it and check appropriate lives on the pins.
If it has the old immobiliser with red and green lights in both the interior mirror and the door exterior handle, you must have at the very least one red light and one green light working for it to disarm. It doesn’t matter where, but one of each

Thank you… not looked at the fuel relay, tbh, didn’t know about it…
the ignition switch has crossed our minds but might get some more issues that point to that once it is on the road.. indicators playing up and things turning off…and no old alarm system.. have a good week and thank you.

Didn’t read carefully last night. 1998, fuel pump relay probably green one in the boot area. Thought I’d read 1993. Might go to specsavers

That’s okay, yes it is a green one in the boot……had me wondering how I had missed a big silver one… seems to have lost power to the rear fuse box so maybe the ignition switch or a pre fuse somewhere.. thank you..
