Looking for some advice...

The rain-sensitive wipe mode on my 96 SL320 no longer seems to take any notice of how much rain is falling - it just wipes continuously. Nothing has changed on the car. Any ideas?

Thx

Move to Spain - not much rain here.!! :D

Seriously, does it wipe continuously when it is just damp?

Sadly, it does. Not so much of a problem at the moment, based on Glasgow's level of rainfall, but we do get a summer month later in the year when the intensity of rain reduces and it's a bit of a nuisance then......

All was fine until 3 weeks ago, when it seemed to switch to constant wipe mode instead. Even when sitting still in a tunnel

My wiper on my w210 seems to be the same, sometimes it works fine then others it will just wipe continuously even when its just drizzling. Very annoying if not moving and its wiping like your in a rain storm.. Anyone??

At this time of year there is a lot of salt on the roads. This leaves a film on the apparently clean screen and this fools the sensor into triggering the wipers. Try giving the lens area a really good clean.

Ha! Success - cleaned up as suggested, WhiteNemesis, and changed the blade. All working well now

Thanks for the tip
