I am just reassembling my rear suspension on my r129 with ADS and as i plugged the rear height sensor back in, one of the wires came off. on inspection, one or two are badly corroded at the pin. So i need to get the pin out to re solder the wire on. But i cannot fathom out how to get the pin out of the plastic socket. It has a number on it AMP 1-267-678-1.

Anybody have any clues on how to get the pins out?

The pins normally have a “barb” or two on them preventing them sliding back out. You can sometimes get very small screwdrivers up the side from the front to press the barbs in so the pins will slide out.

Its actually the other side very small female ends to except these pins. i guess they have the same barb? They are so tiny its hard to get in with anything.

Female ends still have the barbs. I used to have the tooling to crimp them all…

Quite often it was easier to pull the pin out from the front and replace it with a new one. I’ve also heated one up with a soldering iron and melted it out…

Not pretty but it got it out… difficult to get it back in and correctly aligned afterwards as well.

I’d solder onto the back of the connector - just slide some heat shrink onto the cable first, heat up the pin and get it well tinned then tin the bare wire and stick it in with the iron then slide the heat shrink down and melt it down.

I wouldn’t bother to try and get the pin out it will not be easy

So tried and failed to repair it under the car, so cut it off half way up the loom, repaired it easily on the bench and resoldered back on to the the loom with heat shrink. thanks for input guys.
