Hi, can anyone help please?
I removed the springs and kept note of which spring was the driver's side but only when I have come to replace the rubber bump stops have I discovered one is thicker than the other so can anyone tell me which side the thicker one should be fitted please?
Thank you

Are you referring to the spring pads, sometimes called "shims"?

If so, I would imagine the thickness would be equal. But, as you say, they are not equal so it seems that some fine-tuning has been done to level up the car.

I would hazard a guess at which side is heavier and put the thicker pad that side.

Or maybe I misunderstand the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, yes I think you are quite right in calling them shims (top of the spring into the turret) as I also discovered last night there are 3 different original part numbers and one of the descriptions seems to infer different thicknesses. I concur with your logic so I will put the slightly thicker shim on the driver's side.

When we got new springs all round for mine, they were fitted by an MB specialist in the UK so I bought all the available shims and he chose as appropriate. They weren't too expensive so it was probably the most cost-effective way to ensure he had all that was necessary to do the job.
