R129 roof controller.1997.

Hi everybody i have a sl320 i keep killing my roof controller as the power on the battery might drop a bit,i have a new battery, alternator,for instance a cold start did it again, it cost aprox £300 to repair any ideas anybody clarky666

Hi, are you jump starting your SL ??
Are you leaving for a few weeks between driving ?
Why not connect it too a battery conditioner, ctec or similar if you can..

Thanks, no i do not jump start, but i cant leave it for more than 3 days,have a new battery and alternator has gone three times at 300 a go,will search for ctec or something. regards j.

You must have a serious drain somewhere. I would try to identify this first.
Perhaps remove some of the less essential fuses, seats,
radio and see if that can point to one circuit.
You could buy a blade ammeter, around £10 ish and check each fuse for a high current. IMG_4177.png

Just a slow process...

With the car just sitting there, all off and key out, remove one fuse, insert the probe and read the reading displayed. Note the fuse and reading. Move onto the next fuse and so on. Looking for a higher than normal reading, not sure what would be deemed as technically high but would hope that one or two would stand out as high.
Low readings 0.05A or less are better than higher 1.5A.

Alternatively you could take it to a good MB independent mechanic and see what they say.
