Hi,

Just wondering what RPM the engine should achieve when stalling the torque convertor? "Foot on brake and gas"

R129 500SL.

Thanks

Mike

To do a stall test, put the car in D and it should not rev over 2k rpm, only do this for 20 sec max,,you cant stall the engine by putting it gear and revving

If it goes much over, then the TC could be on the way out.

What did it go to, and what is the fault

Just tested, achieved 1900rpm max. Only tried for a couple of seconds, bit scary as 326bhp tried to fight against the brakes... ;)

Fault: Occasional sqelching sound from the trans tunnel. Might be a dry bush as it's not been driven much?

Just a thought 326bhp was a bit of an exageration as it needs 5600rpm to achive max bhp.

Anyhow i think the TC is fine, thanks for the info.
