I noticed recently that in the top left corner of the boot (under the plastic trim that holds the numberplate lights and boot release) that there was some rust…
I took off the interior plastic trim (trim tool to removed the inner plastic pin on the 4 press in retainers) to access the 2 x 8mm nuts that holds the external black plastic trim that holds the number plate lights.
Below is the rust once trim removed - limited to the seam it appears.
A little bit on the drivers side (and a tiny bit around the boot release handle (not pictured)
Cleaned it off with Dremel as best I could
Then applied some Kurust treatment
After that dried, primer
And then some “tough black”
I might touch it up with Tansanite Blue, although I don’t have a touch up, so that will have to wait.
I’m going to put some ACF-50 and/or Waxoil behind the trim before I refit it.
