With much thanks to @00slk for sending me his old high level brake like a year or so ago…
Today I replaced mine, I’ve been having an intermittent warning that it wasn’t working for a while.
I removed the 5 central push pin fasteners from the inner boot trim, you can then see the inner lock mechanism:
With an 8mm socket you can undo the black plastic trim that covers the numberplate lights and boot release handle - it also has 3 push clips so you need a trim tool to pop it off.
Once you’ve done that, with a T30 torx bit you can remove the boot handle and un-clip the wiring from the plastic frame.
The plastic frame just clips into the metal, it’s a PITA to remove though…
Once it’s out you can see 3 x 8mm nuts - remove these and the light pops out of the boot lid.
I tested the one Pete had sent me and it worked perfectly so I’ve fitted that and will strip mine down - it’s glued together so it might get a bit messy.
