R172 Wheel change quiery

Merry Christmas everyone,
Now we have got the pleasantries out of the way,
I wonder if anyone can tell me whether or not the 8.5j wheels fitted on the rear of my R172 240, will also fit on the front, without any problems and why are some Mercs are fitted with staggered wheels sizes and others not.

The offset is likely to be the problem fitting rear wheels to the front .... there's a chance they won't clear the suspension struts

But why do you want to fit them?

For some cars its an optional extra and or provides better handling - more road contact.

And no to your question re fitting. You will proably get speedo issues also and you will need to inform your ins co.

The rolling diameter will be the same so there won't be any speedo issues
