I've having the same issue as so many on here. The boot latching mechanism has aslow leak, at least I think its that. I've taken it out twice and glued up all the usual areas that can crack and leak but still over a couple of days the suction part stops working although the release puck does still work suggesting there is pressure to the mechanism but then why would the suction not work or at least make a leaking noise etc.

So the glden question but is there any part of that mech that leaks more than the rest ? At least help me focus it down.

You could have a failed diaphragm internally.
Disconnect the pipe and use a vacuum pump to check it holds vacuum.

Have a look on MB World forum under the R230 section. There's a really good picture record with close ups on where these things leak and how to fix. The ball bearing type "ends" apparently can be the culprit.

Ball bearing ends are a common culprit on r129 vacuum distribution manifolds.

Yes I've already glued them up, guess it doesn't take much !

I did wonder about that but does it hold vacuum after its operated ? I'm also a bit confused because its a pumped system meaning posative pressure but we all refer to it as a "vacuum"
Do we know if there is a technical resourse for this system ??

Have any of you repaired this unit ? When I glued mine up as the threads say I only founf 4 BB balls to glue but apparently there maybe 6 ??? I need to find a way of getting pressure to the latch and bubble test it, just worried I'll over pressure it and knacker it completely !

The 2 balls you are missing are a bit hidden. Look at post 24 on the MB world thread - it shows you where they are.
