Hi newbie here

just had the drivers side interior door handle fail on my 350. I hoped it would be the hook/cable popped out of the fastening but after taking the door card off the spindle/bracket attached to the pull handle has broken off(see photos) . Any idea how to replace or previous threads , merc have the parts still but it looks to be integral/moulded into FCF7E307-74EC-49CA-884C-5C5E02B5286D.jpeg 6805D4CD-B99F-405A-A0A5-E58E5ECEC523.jpeg to the whole black support panel on the back of the door card ? Thanks

I had a similar issue on my Range Rover, like you I took the handle out and looked at the broken part, it was a broken part inside the door handle mechanism. I was confident I was capable of replacing the broken part if I had a spare. So I bought a "dead stock" handle from a Land Rover breakers; 'Terrain Vehicles' for such a cheap price when compared to a new part. So cheap that I cannot remember exactly how much, probably somewhere between £2 and £15. It didn't match the colour of my car but I was planning to extract the bits from it that I needed to replace. I bought that part, looked at it, thought about it. Wondered what 'dead stock' actually meant, having assumed it was just too old and crappy to sell as a valid used part. Figured out what I needed to do to dismantle the broken mechanism in the handle from the breakers, a task that wasn't immediately obvious. Then I tried the process of disassembly and reassembly a few times. When I was comfortable to go ahead it took me about 15 minutes to swap over the moving parts from the breakers and replace the broken parts on my car. The rest of the job was more time consuming with removing door cards and handle. Maybe this is worth a go, you are clearly comfortable taking the door card off and investigating, so maybe this is worth a shot, as long as the broken part part can be removed. I bought the second hand part and dismantled that one before trying the one on my car, to be confident they were i) similar enough for me to learn the process ii) The second hand part would be a valid fix.

These are available as a seperate part. The pivot pin extracts from the doorcard. It’s a long time since I’ve done one, but iirc it’s tricky to withdraw the pin, but it refits easily.

Cant imagine that part being too expensive from MB. That type of metal that looks chalky and dry (no idea what it is called) is brittle and just prone to snap.
Its a bit like plastic and doesnt like the cold and warm cycles of the seasons.
