I just transferred my personal reg to the car so got to work changing the plates. The old ones were held on by a nasty chrome plastic plate holder and now I've removed it I can see there are 4 massive mounting points on the boot lid. I've got a short plate that wouldn't be suitable for screws and I'd rather use sticky pads anyway but that's not possible with these 4 posts sticking out. Has anyone worked a way around this? Are they removable?

If you aren't using sticky pads how will you attach it?

No they aren't removable.

I want to use sticky pads but those mounts get in the way. I'll give the 8mm ones a go, if they don't work I'll make a mounting plate for it

If they are thick enough the stick past the mounts. It may be 11mm.....

Koopz fior other informaton The rivetnuts are a pain once they go bad , or if a screw shears off as you try to remove them. Best to drill them out ..The use of a grinder will lead to partial boot respray . At one stage i have used an hole saw without the centre drill and cut around the rivetnut .The hole that these rivets go in to is not round, but more like octagonal ,,,see the rivetnut,, reason is to hold the rivetnut in place , to stop it turning as the screw is removed or tightened up. The way i went was to use a reg plate holder after i broke one rivetnut off in my boot lid . Nice to know your happy with d/s/tape ..
