R230 SL - Android/Apple Carplay ??

Hi there and apologies if this should have been posted in a different section...

Anyone had any experiance and success or failure with an Android or Apple Carplay upgrade ? There is such a price range from less than £200 to £1000 ! It's a weekend car, not a daily driver, so I'd like to do it but if the only route to success is at the £1000 end then I'll leave it.

It's for a 2007 SL500 with the Bose audio system.

2007 is not as bad as 2004 and earlier but still not an easy thing to do. I don't think you can keep the original head unit so you need an audio to MOST fibre adapter or wire direct to the speakers.
Problem there is the speakers are an odd impedance.
