Folks.
My convertible roof went down successfully however will not activate at all.

Ran codes and it came back with :
S83/10 limit switch down remains in the switched status or has a short.

Basically that is the :
Rollbar raised/lowered limit switch

Strangely tough I can activate the rollbar and lift and lower it so i can only believe the car thinks that the switch is locked in the 'up' or open position even though its actually down

My question is this : can anyone confirm if the roof CAN be raised if the rollbar is already up to ease my worry before i delve in and change the switch? My only worry is that I dont see it as a pre requisite of the electronics diagram in the vario roof aid document.

The roof does nothing....not a mute when i try to close it.

Secondly anyone any idea as to how the limit switch is accessed and changed ?

Thanks in advance.

I'd quickly try putting the roll bar up again, and hold the switch in the position for 5-10 seconds, which might reset (hopefully).
I never tried putting the roof up when the roll bar was up already but I did deploy the roll bar when the roof was already up (more than once!) which didn't cause any issues.
Before going the diagnostic route (which I think ultimately where you're headed), check your consumer/Auxiliary battery state of charge, any dash messages on that? 230s don't like that battery being poorly and throw up all sorts of gremlins thereof....

+^ - happened to me (different set of circumstances) but when the roll bar shot up by chance I held the switch down & kept holding it down for (say) 20 seconds - all ok

Thanks for the thoughts guys.
I repaced aux battery with brand new tosay and checked all fuses. After lots of tests on the foxwell nt530, one thing i am positive sure is that the rollbar thinks that its in the up position even though its down. The easy pack even though it is not working is showing the correct values on the computer in that at least it thinks that its not in easy pack mode and that the trunk separator is indeed closed. I cleared all codes and did it 3 times and evertytime it points solely to the s83/10 rollover bar down/up limit switch. Switch status is implausible.
And indeed when i look at the live data it thinks its up when its actually down. So i guess my next plan of action is to somehow change this switch. However i cannot find any information whatsoever or how to change it.

Any help on this aspect would be really appreciated. With bmw i use realoem to lookup part numbers. Does mercedes have the equivalent ?

Update. Roof is up on all its glory !!

Basically I stripped out rear panelling and accessed the limit switch on the rollbar. Manually changed the switch status and on the live data i could see that its state had changed to being closed. I now knew for certain the bugger was indeed sticking.
Wedged the switch to closed state witj a piece of wood and tried the roof..... UP SHE ROSE LIKE JESUS FROM THE DEAD.

New one ordered from mercedes. 10 days wait.

What i learnt.
Ignore that your easy pack isn't functioning when your rollbar switch is sticking as it must take precedence and stops the easy pack from functioning. It will also prevent the easy pack light blinking when the trunk switch is not engaged leading you to believe all sorts.

Purchase a foxwell nt350 and get to know how to use it fully if you dont have STAR

To drmw and john laidlaw.....thank you for your suggestions and keeping me determined to find a resolution without stealerships intervention.
