I have found that there is about 4" water inn the bottom of the plastic heater plenum, under the grill on the rear near-side of the bonnet. I guess this is rainwater or from car washing. I feel sure there must be a drain tube from this space but have not been able to locate it. Can anyone offer any help?

The worst that can happen is that water goes into the car sills, and then you get silly messages and faults as the CAN is upset. As in the link its a straight forward job that will never return, In the winter there will be less condensation. In extreme cases it can knock out the heater blower reg pack.
