rad fan S320 year 2000

Hi,

The rad fan on my S320 petrol year 2000 is now making a lot of noise - I suspect the bearing is failing or needs greasing.

To replace the fan assembly I have been quoted around £450 from non MB and about £580 from MB just for the part.

Has any one had a similar problem - can the fan be repaired or overhauled to avoid this crazy price?
