The car is a C180 N regd!

Thanks..

Take a look in the oil filler cap, is there a milky looking sludge in it.

Pull the engine dipstick, are the any water bubbles on it

Hello,
I had the same problem as yours.
After checking the cap and other areas, i finally found out at the expantion tank. There was a slight crack and water was loosing through this little crack.
Just check the expantion tank and see(the plastic container)

when buying a replacement Mercedes Benz radiator, the most important considerations are sizing the radiator correctly and making sure the inlet and outlet fittings are in the right locations so the hoses will line up the same way as before. the height and width are the most critical dimensions so the radiator will fit properly. some replacement radiators may be somewhat thicker or thinner than the original, but as long as it provides the same degree of cooling (or better) than the original, it will work fine.

Proper coolant fill

I have just replaced an expantion tank but I am unsure how much to fill with coolant. i dont know how much was lost before repair. should there be coolant visible in tank for proper fill.
Thank You

There'll be a fill mark on the tank, fill it to there then run the engine up to temperature and check again. Keep an eye on the level whilst you're running the engine.

There's a mark on mine for the water level when cold, it's usually somewhere around the seam or joint of the tank. Unless you emptied the system completely I'd top up with coolant.

Check the thermostat housing as it sometimes weeps slightly and evaporates so as not to show.

Older Citroen Now :-(
I would pre mix a 50/50 solution of coolant / water and add that..
Run the engine till good and hot then allow to cool.. The expansion tank usually has hot and cold level marks on it.
Be thankful you dont have one of the old Peugeot 1.9 diesel engines.. The pollava you had to go through to make sure you had no trapped air in the cylinder head had to be seen to be believed !
