After a service my radio is asking for a code. Is there any way I can enable my radio without the code?

It is a factory Mercedes radio, is there a contact I can phone with VIN and be issued with a code?

Thanks
Dave

You should be able to get this from a stealer.

As to whether it has to be the original supplying stealer or available, electronically, elsewhere I don't know.

I have had to do this with a company Renault in the past, I guess MB will be the same.

Where abouts did you get your car serviced? as they mechanic must have disconnected the battery for this to happen. You may want to contact the garage and request they refund you for the charge on obtaining the code from the MB dealers.

I had the same happen to a Ford i used to own. All i had to do was take the radio into any Ford dealers, they plugged it in to a PC and the code appeared on the screen.

30 seconds and £15 later i had sounds again!

radio code

Hi

If this is the original radio the dealer should be able to provide the code free of charge. Ask their parts Dept to input the chassis No to Fdok and request the radio code this only takes a few minutes. You may need to call in and prove you are the owner unless you ring the dealer you bought the car from as they will know you. If this is not the original radio it may still be possible via the seriel no of the radio. Yes they can be decoded via dodgy companies at a cost of about 20 quid or a knackered radio. I am assuming this is an audio 10 set if so, I would not reccomend the decode route, they cost about 300 quid to replace

Many thanks guys, but a flash of inspiration drew me to a mysterious drawer in my garage and I found the radio code card.

That has saved me a few quid.

Funny you should say that actually altreed, as the very same day i went and got the code, i got home and decided to clean the car. On taking all my tapes out of the glovebox i discovered a tiny white sticker at the back.....displaying what i had just paid £15 for!!!

The law of the sod is never far away!!!
