Radio help, no lights and wont turn on with igintion and wont turn off?

Can anyone help?

Put a standard Beker b6021 head unit in my w203, and have the following problems.

No lights on radio when headlights are on...
Doesnt auto turn on with ignition, and doesnt turn off when the car is turned off.
Steering wheel buttobs do not work.

Someone has suggested the radio needs to be coded to the car?

Had a similar problem in mw W163 ML430 with the radio not turning off and on, and it was a fuse that was out.

Any ideas?

From what I have read, you may have to put the car onto STAR it will give you the reason via the Most bus, the are variations, up to 30-11-04 and as off that date
