The aerial is in the back glass window,
One method to try is to put 13.8-14 volts through window wires for 20 mins.
two, fit supressor cap to window
three, New window

Malcolm, Why would this help? :???:

This is an MB cure,, , under the higher voltage the offending bad wiring in the glass will weld itself to stop the crackling, another way is to put a Capacitor of about 20,000Mfd across the connections and this acts as a giant suppressor

Is,nt there a suppressor already fitted to the rear window heater? It could be this is U/S I think it is mounted on the drivers side of the window behind the "C" piller trim i,ll try and find it on the EPC.

That is the 20,000mfd cap that I mentioned above and not all cars have them

Hi Malc,
I thought it was fitted to all the MBs with the aerial element built in the rear window, have just tried to find it on the EPC for my AMG and can,t find it. So it being not fitted to all MB's explains this.

Hi Andy,,I did loads of post on this a few years back, I could never work out what car had them and what car did not. these started back in the 126 days, they were fitted in one side of the C pillar
