I tried to install the Chrysler radio navigation system in my clk430 and everything works apart from actually giving the route. It comes up saying calculating route - CD icon flashes, cd starts whirring but then stops - cd icon still flashing. This is the system based on the Becker unit - not command. Any ideas ?

What software version are you using. BTW. I beleive MB calls this "Audio-30 APS", I have that in my SL

You may need to hook up the "reverse" and speed impulses - the MB unit will take this straight from the CANbus. I dont know what the chrysler unit does, I suspect its software selectable by the dealer

Theres also a setup menu. Hit nav button. and on the screen where it offers you "town road .." hold the 2nd and 7th unnumbered buttons for a few seconds. If you tell me what your settings are for radimpulses and other info on that screen i'll compare it to the unit in my SL

Its worth looking at the megacomm.de site and look at the Audio-30 APS info, it shows you the diagnostic screens

I managed to get into the setup menu - everything looks good i.e. the first character changes from 7 to f when I engage reverse - however the two figures in the top right of the display are always at zero - I think I am missing the speed signal - any ideas which wire this would be - all existing connectors are plugged in !!!

Ok, on the newer cars the speed signal is sent over the CANbus, theres no discrete speed signal connected to the headunit. The MB head units pick this up, and maybee the chrysler unit can be set by the dealer to do this ?? My SL is old so doesnt have CANbus, so my car has speed signal wiring to the radio - and the unit just used it.

Apparently you can find a speed signal wire in one of the footwells and wire it thru to the head=unit.

Let me know if you need me to dig out which pin on the head-unit is the speed input on the mercedes version of the audio-30

Ok thanks - I thought that this would be the case. I have indentified all the pins on the head unit - so I just need to find the speed signal wire and connect it up now.
