Hi there,

It's me again.
My Mercedes Benz, ck 180 Kompressor 2008's rain cowl is leaking on the right side.
Looks like there's a small hole in it. Can I use a sealant to fix it? or do I get it replaced completely? How much would it cost to replace/repair it?
I am due to take it to the garage next month. Please find pics enclosed within
Kind Regards

Mel

I’m slightly confused, if you mean the black plastic below the wiper arm there should be holes in it to let the water out. You need to see where the drain is below it and clear it out so the water can drain away. If you don’t it can run into the footwells through the heater matrix.

Looks perfectly normal to me. As mentioned it's to allow he water to drain away instead of rising to flood the wiper spindle.

Blobcat beat me to it. Indeed there is a little hole (or more) under the wiper arm, they are there for a reason, a water drain.

Make sure they are unblocked and not taped up.

I get my wet and dry and compressed air into my engine bay a fee times a year and clear all leaves and webs that may have snuck in. Especially in area where water should drain. ie by the side of that box.

Thanks everyone, What you say makes sense
I have taken some pics, please do advise
In the past, due to this water leak I even put some sealant on the sides
Pics attached
In the past a lot of tree gunk used to block it
Hope all of this has not blocked everything
I know, I know
I need to learn more about cars

Erring on side of caution, I think I may ask the garage to replace the rain cowl
Last thing I want is a blocked cowl, with water entering into the engine
How much would a replacement cost?

It doesn’t require replacement… just clean it out and clean the holes out.

They can be a pita to remove as the wiper arms have to come off.

Just clean it

You would not replace the kitchen sink because you have not picked the spinach leaves out of the plug.

Eureka
I think I have located the problem
In the cold, daylight I noticed that there should be a sort of circular ‘rubber seal’ which sits at the base of the wiper and acts like a sealant.

This ‘seal’ is missing on the right side and when I poured water, it just went straight down the engine!!
On the left side, this seal is still patent
Please see pics of both, for comparison
Query is ; how do I seal this? Temporarily and permanently?
It’s my day off tomorrow
Thanks

Mel

The part I think is called 'Windscreen wiper axle rubber seal'
Where can I get this part, for a CK 180 Kompressor, 2008 Mercedes C class car?
Thanks

Went to Mercedes Lister, armed with my VIN
WDD 2040..
After a long search, they came back with ‘ sorry we don’t have it, either buy the whole wiper ( 318 quid) or try elsewhere’
So going to drive back home
Then seal with some rubber and gorrilla glue for now.
Then go on line and hunt for it
-A simple Mercedes ck 180 kompressor 2008
Right side wiper axle rubber seal
Some adventure on my day off

as i say could....
It is, thanks once again Mioba

The only problem is that there are very few websites that sell them
Most of them are based abroad
Have emailed a couple, fingers crossed
In the meanwhile, as two storms are gonna hit us this week, I made a makeshift rubber seal
Which is, a plastic suction cup from my non-slip mattress, cut a
hole in the centre. This I stuck on to the area, with gorrilla glue and topped it up with cling film. Which I rolled into a rope like fashion and inserted it on top of the plastic , in a circular fashion.
I know it sounds weird but either this or have water leaking into the engine
I hope it works, till I get the original
parts . Another thing was that I found was the windshield wiper hard to remove. I got the nut off but it was like rusted and stuck down, so didn’t push it. Will get the garage to do it, when I get hold of this part.
The car is anyway due for it’s
MOT and B service in 2 weeks time
thanks once again
God bless you all

Go to your MB dealer parts dept and tell them you need a part and give them that number.

Its not uncommon for the parts ppl to be clueless (based on your earlier visit)....
