Rain Sensor

Hello all, I am looking for some advice re a rain sensor on my 2002 C220CDI Saloon. I have purchased a rain sensor and the loom, however when I offer it up to the screen I can see the internals of the sensor module through the windscreen, whereas with my wifes, all I can see is what appears to be a purple tint. I'm wondering if the sensor I have purchased has some sort of lens missing? Also would I need to do anything further to make the rain sensing wiper function operable? I find not having variable intermittant wipers extremely irritating.

Yes you do need the sensor, I think that the last time I looked this up the sensor was built into the glass and only comes with the screen, double check with MB.

Re Rain sensor

If you've bought this thinking it's just the rain sensor you need, then you're mistaken. If this model is like my 1999 E Class the windscreen needs the reciprical module which is hard glued onto the windscreen glass (even when I needed to replace my cracked windscreen I was asked if it had the rain sensor option, so its factory fitted).

I'd also image there's an additional module that translates the signal from the rain sensor module to the wiper motor control box.

However, I could be wrong since this is the newer series.

Good evening, thanks for your comments. Don't think I can justify a new screen just to put in a rain sensor.
