My C220 CDI Est (W Reg) is fantastic.....but the alarm has the most annoying habit of going off at night time - never seems to occur during the day. I have searched earlier threads - but nothing appears to help, other than this quote from Blobcat:

"Alternatively if the alarm is an older model open the fresh air vents and park it nose into the wind. You can then win friends and influence people with your alarm going off every couple of minutes during the small hours."

Would this also be the case with temperature changes - ie the alarm setting off at night? Or am I barking up the wrong tree??

I had a very similar problem with my 97 SLK...neighbours most annoyed...good old dose of WD40 on the siren contacts seem to have sorted the problem out though..!

Is it possible maybe that it's just doing its job, or is the car garaged or happened while you've been watching it?

Thanks for those words......but no we are in a secure environment, so I think it must be a problem rather than actually deterring someone.

try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins, this resets the system. I had a problem where the alarm would allow me access to car but would not demobilise, dealer reccomended to disconnect battery. This worked for me so its worth a go.
Otherwise try and get a diagnostic done to see if there is any faults registered.

My 250TD intermittently suffered from random triggers in the past.

A spider web crossing the sensor (Mines B post) can cause trigger.

Periodic internal car spray with insecticide stops the problem.

If yours is an MB alarm you should have a button on the dash to switch off the interior motion sensors. Next time you lock the car press the switch, if the alarm no longer activates in the night then you know it is the motion sensors giving you grief.
