CLA250e 2020
Afternoon all.

About a month into ownership of a 2020 ish CLA250e. All is currently well, here's hoping it stays that way.

Was on a trip at the weekend, on the way back to the frozen north, stopped at lovely Birchanger services, and while taking a whizz, thought I'd pop it on a charger for a few mins.

Previous car was an all electric hyundai (which was a pain, the infrastructure just isn't there yet for full electric), and so am used to charging it rapid DC. I'd also noted while charging it AC at home that it had like a plate over the DC part of a CSS charger.

Was a little surprised that the plate didn't lift off, allowing me to use a CSS rapid charger. Seemingly just type 2 AC. That's alright for home, but when out and about, it's normally CSS you see, the little type 2 doesn't seem as prevalent.

So anyone got any advice about charging these hybrids out in the wild? Do people find it worth the effort, or just fall back on the petrol? Are there more type 2 chargers than I realise? Can you use Tesla type 2s? Am I an idiot and this car actually will take a dual CSS charger?

Many thanks!

Welcome Susie (with an "S" or a "Z" ?)

Sorry I can't help - but good luck.

I assume you have resolved this by now and aren't still trying to prise the plate off the charger. I've just got a 2024 CLA 250e and there are two cover plates over two charger sockets with separate release levers. I know the 250e was updated in 2023 but I would have thought the charger socket was fundamental?
