I agree.

Does anyone know what is classed as a big car?

The new rules only apply to new cars, not ours

If not we can all go out and buy a G-Wiz seeing as they are exempt from tax ;)

I gather from today's newspaper that only 6 of them were sold last year.

...and if we all purchase a G-wiz, do you think they would still be exempt? yeh right!

The government has to tax us all for all these new jobs they keep creating, to manage the rest of us! If we just shot all the beurocrats and civil servants, we wouldnt have to pay any!!

Look on the bright side everyone. Now that road tax has gone up the roads will be less congested and there will be enough money to fill in all of the pot holes. A bit like when National insurance went up by 1% and all of the NHS improved.

Paying for Unemployed and Pensioners

It is a little known fact that there are 7 million people in the UK who could work but don't work - and around 5.5 million of these refuse to work. Someone has to pay for that lot. The figure of 7 millions comes from official UK statistics on claimants for one form or other of State benefit payments. If you look at the "official" level of unemployment, it's somewhere between 1 and 2 million, but it can be less than 1 million on a good day if you listen to the right politician. Then there are several million pensioners who depend entirely on the State pension, which comes from taxes. Beyond that there are a huge number of public sector jobs designed to keep down the jobless totals. They have to be paid for. So now you know why we pay almost the highest prices for petrol and diesel and other forms of vehicle taxes in the developed world and why the overall tax burden increases each year.
