Hi all, sorry for the apparent impatience but running out of time (eBay sale).

Will alloys from an E280 marked TSW7J 15CH (only markings on the wheels apparently) fit mine? (Described below).

There seems to be some confusion as to whether 15" or 16" were fitted to the model.

Ta, Tom.

Hi tom7035

Reposting doesn't garranty a faster response.

See my reply to your original inquiry.

You should ask the seller for the details of the wheels he/she has put up for auction. For example, what size are they? What offset are they?

REGARDS Phil

W210 Eclass has 16" alloys as either standard or optional. I think the orginal steel wheels however amy have been 15". I have however just got out my manual and it gives alloy wheel sizes 7J 15 o/s 37 with 205/65R15 tyres for E200 or E240. This size is not listed for E280 which is listed 7 1/2J 16 o/s 41 with 215/55R16 tyres.

I know from experience the lower the profile the better the roadholding, meaning the 16" rather than 15" would be better. But this comes at a sacrifice of ride and smoothness. If you have a lot of motorway driving and good surfaces then 16" is better.

No, Olaf,

Toms talking about E280 W124 (late model) (mid 93 - 95)

Tom. Am pretty sure the ET no. should be marked on the inside.

OOOps... read the question.....sorry.

But I suspect the wheel sizes are fairly similar. However the offsets could be completely different so ignore my post. Sorry for any confusion caused.

you can fit either 15 or 16" wheels to a W124. The original fitting would pretty much guaranteed to have been 15" but from my own experience the cars work better with 16" rims

What you definitely need to know is the offset of the wheels (ET number) which will be stamped on the rim somewhere
