I recently posted regarding a diesel particuate filter problem and you guys kindly gave me advice how to sort the problem (giving the car a decent run at high revs) I followed your much appreciated advice. The engine management light is still on on the dash and you did tell me I might have to have it reset. Someone said it might be possible to reset this by disconnecting the battery for 1 hour and then reconnecting. Is this true? I won't do anything until I get professional advice from you guys. I apologise if I come across like a complete idiot but modern engines are so sensitive and computer governed and I am scared that I might create another problem.

I get the impression that your car has not been on Star yet.

I don't really see the point of doing anything until its had the DPF condition checks done on star.

When you do, please post your findings.

you WILL need plugging in to erase codes, but if you get that far have the condition and codes read first as haggeted says. and disconnecting the battery will do no harm, but one or two things would need initialising if you did.
