Greetings

I’ve had a look at changing the spark plugs on my 2006 A150 and with the angle of the engine seems not to be a straight forward (no pun intended) task.

Can anybody offer any advice for doing this job?

Also, does anyone know what time MB allows for this ?

TIA for any input

Apparently you are supposed to remove the inlet manifold to do it:shock:. This guy seems to have a a way around that.

The angle of the dangle, is directly proportional to the heat of the meat. Apparently.

Hope this helps :)

.......
provided that the maxis of the axis, and the gravity of the cavity, remain constant.

It’s a PITA as you’ve found the angle is canted towards the back of the engine bay , so yep easiest way to do them is remove the air box and manifold, about three hours total to change your plugs according to Mercedes.
But as TPN found there is a slightly easier way to do these, the only issue is if it’s not perfectly square on the plug then the risk of snapping a plug in the head is greatly increased

This video came up on the YT sidebar, I see MB have a specific HT lead removal tool and the plugs changed without intake manifold removal.

Looks like a 30-minute job

Looks like they created something specific for the job, I det the tool isn’t cheap though if you can even buy it from Mercedes’ themselves

Although these tools may not cheap they are often a lifesaver.
Many companies do aftermarket tools like sealy

There is usually an easier way to do these awkward jobs. Same with the inlet manifold on the 220 cdi om651.

Mercedes take out the engine to do it.
Some indies leave the engine in situ and remove the battery and firehead.

I did not remove any of those, just bought a few wobbly extensions and got there.

No great imagination needed to make a tool like that to pop of the HT leads. A bit of steel plate and an angle grinder and away you go.
