Hi, new member here and I would be really grateful for any advice. I've got a 1997 C200 Sport Estate which is great apart from a recurring electrical problem. The remote locking generally seems a bit reluctant and every month or so stops working altogether. When this happens, the front windows also stop working. Quite often, it will sort itself out after a week or so and all starts working again. However, when the locking and windows are not working, the battery will go flat within 2-3 days if the car isn't used. It's almost as if the fault starts to draw power from the battery even when the ignition is turned off.
I've had the car looked at by a good indie on a couple of separate occasions and, sod's law, it has behaved perfectly on both occasions, despite leaving it with them for week. The car has a brand new battery, as does the rmeote key fob.
Anyone come across a similar problem?

Hi and welcome to the forum, BollyW.

I did have a similar problem a while back although not with the central locking.
Basically, I lost all electrics in the drivers door - window, mirror and door sensor.

To cut a long story short, I removed and replaced every fuse I could find, one at a time.
In my case, it cured the fault. Now, i'm guessing your problem could be more than that but it's where i'd begin for starters.

I think DS is along the right lines. Its possible you are loosing power to the front doors and central locking pump. the rear fuse box is where i would start, check the connections and wires at the fuse box.

Is Your car the flip key or the electronic key?

I would look in around the central locking pump. I had a problem here as it was sitting in water and that seemed to cause a short.

With all of the rein of late another 202 fault is the fuse box under the bonnet with 2 lids, they can let water in and the water sits under the SAM and can cause leaks and battery drain. Ideally the SAM should be lifted and checked for water, there are modified lids now for this box

Hi Guys and thanks for your suggestions. I'll have a go at the fuses and check out the central locking pump and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Sorry Ellsy - forgot. It's an electronic key.
