Reaplacement rear window R129

Hello,


the rear plastic window on my 1997 R129 SL has a large split can this be replaced or is a new hood needed...any advice greatly received ..(uk based)

New windows can be fitted and a few firms do that in the uk,,wait till an owner who has had it done comes on

Had mine done done at HOODS GALORE and had the hood repiped , any part of the hood can be replaced in sections. All the stitching must be water proofed (ie waxed and the stitch holes sealed) , you must use a quality product and the rear window must be of equal quality . Poor quality plastic windows are much thinner and are very brittle in cool weather and they will split very easily . HOODS GALORE are many miles from you down here in the south based at Hullbridge in Essex but they have an interesting website . Mine cost £300 to do (the plastic window , piping and including putting a new headlining in the hardtop. I cannot emphasise more that the materials used must be of the finest quality as it will not look right and can effect the operation of the hood as it must fold exactly in the right places when the hood is lowered.

Hope this helps and gives you an idea of the costs and procedures involved.
