Think youll find its both a disc and a drum.

Yes, sweetness, but no cast back like on a normal drum.

So why the secret profile? I cannot believe that you are shy.

WD40, leave overnight, Big hammer, tomorrow. I should have known that it was going to be a problem when the wheel was seized on the hub. I have only had this car a few months and the DH that had it last didn't love it.

If the disc is not turning separately to the hub just behind it, then holding the foot brake with your left foot and applying throttle in gear with your right foot will break the corrosion lock between the disc and hub. Ensure you have removed the grub screw first. The engine torque is sufficient to shear it if you haven't, but removal is best.
If the disc will spin separately to the hub flange, but will not pull off, the problem is with the handbrake shoes and the wear lip on the inner edge of the drum. If you have backed the adjuster right off but it still won't come over the lip it's usually because the expander segment connected to the handbrake cable has seized. A bit of bashing to the disc, left and right will usually tease the lip over the shoes and eventually get the disc off. Sometimes the brake shoe hold down springs will break when given this treatment. New ones are not expensive, but it may mean the job runs into a second day.

I do not think that I will try that on axle stands. No the Disc will not move separately. Yes I HAVE backed off the adjuster until it will not move any more. Yes the correct direction. I think that I have alread said that the grub screw was also seized in and stripped and drilled and extracted. I do not think that the wheels have been off since the year dot and totally seized. The dh who last put the wheel bolts on had never heard of torque settings and tried to prove how macho they were. They did not want to come off. Wheel was totally adhered to the hub.

You won't have it jump off the axle stands. Try holding on the brake and just popping it into gear without touching the throttle. You won't have it off the stands. Bolt the calipers back on first though ;)

Thank you davidsl500

I think that you have escalated to a good caining. Yes tried that before I saw this, but will beat it again tomorrow after the WD40 has hopefully worked. I have been told WD40 is not a penatrating oil. I do think that some people on here, just drop in half way through the thread without reading even the begining and giving irrelavent or ask questions already answered many times, because they haven't read the thread. Have you backed off the shoes?x 7. Mmmm never thought of that.

I think that I will make up a new profile as a guy, because I do not believe that SOME of yo guys can accept SOME woman CAN BE as good as you. You still get the as you say "get a guy" (Yes a joke), one said get a mobile mechanic to do it for me. They would not say that to a guy. Yes probably only the few of you, but VERY disapointing to be treated that way. I have probably done more in my life than some of these pompous priggs, boy I know what I would like to call them, but their egos couldn't take it. Just take a look back through this thread. Then when you comment they come back saying I should not be offended. Remember guys, you are only SENIOR members because you post alot. Not because you are good at it.

You can say what you like about this post, but I am saddened by the way that SOME of you have treated me. You do not know me or what I am capeable of but you judge. I can guess the backlash from this, but whatever.

Thanks guys for accepting me into the forum and being so friendly. If that offends you, they say the truth hurts, but of course your egos will not let you accept that you hav done anything wrong. I used to be in the military and prooved myself on many leavels. Some of you need equality training, as you would not last out there in the real world acting like this.

Love to all you NICE people on here who have helped and treated me equally. You can only guess what I think of the foolish
ones.

Hit the disc with a metal club hammer if the rubber one didn’t work
Good advice, rubber mallets dont work for me on discs, metal ones always work!

Rubber mallets are only good for knocking rubber nails through glass.

You’ll find a great many threads on this forum where the OP is recommended to utilise the services of a Mercedes Independent garage. As most of the members on this forum are men then most of the threads advising members to take their cars to garages are directed at men.

I don’t understand your attitude, you’ve come here for help and advice, you’ve been given some very good advice (and a bit of good mannered banter). The members on this forum provided their expertise and experience for free. If you have any issues with the responses please use the report button and they will be reviewed.

I'd never hit a disc or anything else I wanted to use again with a proper hammer o_O .... I do have a few soft faced (plastic or leather) mallets I could though.

If i was going to the bother of replacing shoes . Id change the disc/drum whilst i was on. Also fit new springs and retainers. Also fit new brake pads. Purely because it can be a pig of a job and costs are not too high. What you save on labour pays for the parts.

I have to agree. None of the comments have been directed at your gender in any way, and we have no way of determinating your skill level from one post.

....

I wouldn't tale it to heart :):) .... car forums tend to be male orientated and by our very nature are not very good at equality etc
When I was in the Navy Wrens (as they were) didn't go to sea ... they do now ..... not sure how that works

There are questions by men on forums that many would find very easy to answer but either men or women, if you know you know, if you don't, you don't.

Very often in life there are 'pink jobs' & 'blue jobs' ;);)
