Rear brakes on CLK320

Hi all, I have a slight grinding noise coming from the N/S/R of my CLK320 when braking but only when I turning left. It does not do it when braking in a straight line. Do you think it is pads? I havn't had the chance to take a look yet, maybe look thursday.

Has anyone ever done the rear pads on a 97 CLK? Any guides or tips on how to do it? I have changed pads on things like escorts and fiestas but never on a merc!!! Any special tools? Procedures?

Hello Lee, the last one had a small stone wedged in the pad. the rear brakes are simple, on some of the cars for the rear you unbolt the calliper to change the pads, nothing special about it.

Would you say it sounds like pads though? Also, what about winding back the piston? Do you need a special tool for that or does it just force back in?

Stones wedged in there are common, as Malcolm says, and is probably your problem. Do you have a gravel drive? I see a few lightly used cars where rear pads get rusted up and stop moving. Often the inner face of the rear discs gets quite rusty from not having the pad running against it. Pistons are a straight forward push back in job.
