Rear Interior light issue

hello all,

Had a bizarre issue occur on my C180 W202 W Reg last night. Parked up in parking bay at home as usual. Later in evening my neighbour knocks on door to tell me the rear interior light is on.
I go back to car, switch off the rear light from the control panel and lock car. All lights go off. I check about 20-30 mins later and the rear light is back on!
I again switch the light off from the panel and then lock the car. This time, the lights stay off all night.

I have seen a few posts here regarding the interior light issue but hasn't experienced it coming back on!

Is it just me or does the W202 have a few electrical gremlins lurking there? If I wanted electrical roulette I would have bought a french car!!

I have had my car for 3 months now and i'm not overly impressed..especially after owning a 230E W123 a few years ago..far better car in my opinion..anyway, i digress...any thoughts on the issue in hand?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
I would personally start looking at the door switches particulary the rear ones.
Quite common problem, as the seat belt buckles can get trapped in the door damaging the actuator pin of the switch, or can just get "sticky" like the ones in my C230K, when I open the door the light does,nt come on till a good few seconds after, to be honest there is,nt much else that could put this light on.
Do you remember to post back and let us know how you get on, or indeed with any other problem you may find.
