For Television. Hi again Malcom attempted to change rear light lenses on 230 SL but had to abandon it because I could not get trim past the two steel bars lying inside boot which operate the open top mechanism. However on checking that all was working correctly after reassembly noticed that boot lid pivots towards rear during fold down. Should I have locked boot in this position rather than raising towards front in order to remove trim to get at the three fastening bolts of the lamp clusters? advice appreciated.

Yes young man,,open the roof, just so the the boot opens and stop it there,,it will gong 3 times, but ignore that and remove the key, there are 2 plastic press pegs right at the top under the wing, 1 each side.

The near side panel is full behind it and hard to find the nuts for the rear light.
The panels will bend enough inwards to work, and I do suggest that when trying to get the nuts back onto the lights that you tape the nuts onto the socket or they can drop down out of site.

Just ask if you get stuck

Many thanks for your help and quick reply. And to think I practically stripped the boot down to bare metal! Knowledge is a wonderful thing!
