Hi there .this is my first attempt at posting a thread. One of my problems with my E240 (w210) estate is that The wider of the two rear seats wont release to be folded down. From what I've read here the locking mechanism is probably broken. There is a rear load protector/ guard that is fitted to the rear of the back seat but this cant be released until the seat is folded down. This therefore prevents me getting at the rear seat and gaining access to the lock mechanism ,catch 22. Does anyone have any ideas please

Hi 230K and everyone
. The blind carriage does move sideways but not enough to release it from the rear seat.

ours was sticky when we first bought it

some liberal spraying with silicone oil down a thin tube into the release handle ( shrouded with a rag to catch the leakage and overspray) and working the handle eventually loosened it up. try that before you dismantle or get wiggy with it. a good lube can work wonders.

As far as I know you just lift the seat squab and remove it

Unless of course you have stretched the cable linkage and banjaxed it in your attempts to release it.

PCS managed to release mine without destroying the seat back, but this was to replace a frayed seatbelt for an MOT fail. Problem persists and I hope no long loads required....
