I?ve seen a couple of 300E?s circa 1990 cars which seem to be only 4 seaters due to the centre of the rear seat being a storage box covered in wood veneer. Was this standard on all 300?s or was it an option ?

Hi,
I have this option fitted to my 1991 300e 24v sportline. The only others i have seen with this set up are the coupes and the 500e ??. Not sure if this option was "extra" to the sportline pack or not. I'm sure someone on here will know. :)

Hi

The car I am looking at is a 300E 4Matic. I have seen another 4matic with the 2 rear seats, but wondering if this was an option on all 300's or maybe standard on the 4matic.

I would have thought it was an option, perhaps part of the sportline package, otherwise Mercedes would have severley limited the market for these to people who can manage with 4 seats only.

I have seen 4 matics with both. I think they were only standard on the E500.

The 4matic was not a popular UK car, seemed to sell well in the Northern states of the USA were temporary 4wd suited the climate. The 4matic was a very expensive model in the UK and one which I think should be a classic despite the complexity. Many won't make it because of the cost of repairs etc.
