rear suspension pipes

im in the process of replacing the metal pipes running from the rear suspension spheres to the height adjusting valve, are these pipes just ordinary ones (same as brake pipes)? or are they a different type?

on a W124 rear suspension they are pipes with an insert running through them.

Cost about £6 each from the dealers - already pre shaped etc

yeah, these ones have inserts too, do u know why they are there?
