I replaced the 2 o/s rear springs on a c180k w203. It was replaced by a Merc Authrised dealer. Now the rear supsension feels more bouncy and I feel every road crack and bump. It is a bit disturbing. What can be done to cut or reduce the bouncing fx?

thanks

I bow to others but new springs do take a time to work in.

When I started driving we had leaf springs that would sink over a period of time,,a friend had his car spring re tempered and need a step ladder to get into the car, as it was so high.
Thank goodness those days have gone:D

what do you mean "2 o/s rear springs" ?????????????

There is only one o/s rear spring.

Perhaps they undid the shock absorber top nuts and forgot to refix.

Have a look under the car and see if components both sides of car rear look fixed in the same manner. Try and move the shock absorber to see if it seems secure.

The o/s rear spring broke and I had to replace both. It was replaced by Mercedes, so it must be OEM, I guess. It feels tight and confortable at speed humps, no knocking. But like I said; rear bounces, makes me feel every road crack and it is begining to worry me.

Bouncing is controlled by the shock obsorbers,,give the rear a hard push downward and the rear should come back up and not bounce

I had good test drive on urban road and motorway. The rear seems to drop fast after every road crack or pot hole, I don't think was like this before changing springs. I stopped by my in-laws for a cup of tea and took them for a ride on the countryside, awful day, lots of rain but the spirit was high, as usual. Ah! They did help the rear suspension, their weight made if feel better and I'm non wiser. Back on a bad country road without in-laws and the rear suspension drops fast and I feel some vibration as it goes up and down on road cracks and pot holes.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the observation. The current spring is black with 2 light grey or white dots on them. Does it mean anything to you guys? Should this be the standard colour code for c180k w203?

Thanks again

Look at the INVOICE for the part numbers of the springs which were fitted, someone will then check it out for you.

Now I know for sure that the ride is a lot firmer and the rear drops too fast when it hits a road crack or pot hole. Could this be new spring fx? The rear spring part number on invoice is MA202 324 18 04.

Cheers
