My 300d has had many new parts since buying, and is such a nice drive now. The latest worry i have now though is that after a weekend trip with fairly heavy load in boot the car appears to have stayed lower down at the back even when empty. When it was loaded i had to try go round the severe speed bumps on camp site because they would easily have damaged exaust or tow bar. Im thinking new springs must be required or can anyone advise me on where to find these 'spring assistors' i've heard about? Andy.

If it's lower than it used to be I'd check and/or replace the springs before adding spring assistors - obviously something has changed and you need to find out what

It's possible your car has self-levelling suspension. If it does there will be a fluid reservoir on the front n/s inner wing just behind the headlight. If the SLS has failed I'd expect the car to be unbearably hard or amazingly bouncy at the rear

Yes i just checked and the reservoir is their, says on it hydraulic fluid ZH-M, never even thought twice about what that was for. And yes it did seem bouncy at rear end going over speed bumps but more so when loaded. Nothing really noticable otherwise.

Thanks very much for advice, i have been reading old posts on subject, as far back as 2002. I thought only estates had SLS until now. Dont think i'd have kept this car without the help from this club. So now i think i'll make a call to local merc indie in morn for a quote, even though i did see on ' The Garage ' a Bentley having spheres replaced i dont fancy risking diy. Soon my 124 will be like new!
