I could have sworn the boot is electrically operated on these, I know it is on my E class.

As a matter of interest, why did you think of using a hair drier on the pump? If you've been using it to dry out a water ingress I would suspect an electrical fault. I take it that the fluid level is OK?

Yes the fluid level. Is fine no to start with I thought it was the old oil in the pump so I used the hair drier to heat up to thin the oil and that how it started working again so. I changed the oil to the shell one but it still didn't work when it was cold only when I heat up the pump are the oil but I am. Going to check the conections on the pump look for any thing unusual??

Very satisfying when you can fix a problem yourself. :) I dread to think what an MB dealer would have charged you for sorting that problem. You can see the bill can't you - diagnostics, replace pump, replace oil, test drive, change brake discs and pads......
