This is a bit of an odd question really. I have had a C Class for five years now and the rear camera has always been, well, a bit naff at night. To the extent I can hardly see a thing.

But I picked up an E Class yesterday, went out last night and reversed onto the drive and the rear view camera is very reasonable, I can actually see enough to move the car.

The question then is - is the C Class one defective? Or is the E Class one simply better? (I should note the C Class has a 360 camera whilst the E Class only has the rear)....

Is the cam on the c class genuine. I find them as good as each other across the models .

It should give a very clear picture. I had the 360’ system in my W213 and it was very good. I cleaned (well the car wash did...) the camera regularly

If it’s fine during the day and no good at night isn’t it the light not the camera? My ML reversing lights useless.

My W205 Estate has a flap covering the rear lens that must be opened via Comand for cleaning.

Would it not just be simpler to hand a cloth to a helper while you sit in the car with it in reverse? ;)
there was a time when you could put the car in reverse with the ignition on, get out & go & have a look yourself

I wonder if it is just the intensity of the reversing light, my 'C' Class is the same, good during the daylight hours but not so good at night :)

Had a button on the center console to switch the cameras on in my W213 - I used to switch them on at the car was so I could see they'd cleaned the wheels and back of the car correctly before putting it though the tunnel :)

This is interesting. I wonder if I can improve it somehow.
